Florida tax refund texts need an official contact check

Florida tax scam texts and emails can look official, so a refund or payment message should be checked through real agency contact paths.

A tax refund text can make your thumb move faster than your judgment. The message may use state-looking words, a fake link, or a promise that money is waiting. Florida Revenue has warned about scam texts and emails claiming to be from the department, and it gives real contact paths for checking a message.

The calm move is to pause. Do not use the link in the message. Go to the agency site yourself, use a known phone number, or check the contact page. If the message is about IRS taxes, use IRS contact paths instead of a state-looking shortcut.

If you already clicked or shared information, take the next step soon. Contact the real agency, your bank or card company if money or account details were involved, and a proper fraud reporting path. A scam message is common enough that the fix starts with getting back to official ground.
