Florida insurance company and agent checks use two official searches
Florida insurance shopping is clearer when the company and the agent are checked in the right official search tools.
Insurance shopping in Florida works better when you separate the company from the person selling the policy.
The company is the insurer behind the policy. The agent or agency helps sell or service it. Those checks may use different tools. OIR has an active company search. DFS has a licensee search for agents and other insurance licensees.
This can help before a home, auto, flood, life, health, or business policy is bought. It can also help when a quote uses one name and the policy paper uses another.
Start with the full legal names. Search the insurer. Then search the agent or agency. Save the results with the quote, declarations page, binder, receipt, and emails about coverage.
If the names do not line up, ask for a plain explanation before paying. A search is not a full policy review, but it is a good first check.
