Florida finance license search belongs before the payment

Florida OFR license tools can help check some lenders, money services businesses, collection agencies, and other financial companies before money moves.

Before a Florida money deal starts moving fast, check the name on the paperwork.

The Office of Financial Regulation has search routes for many finance businesses. Its REAL system can help check collection agencies, consumer finance companies, money services businesses, sales finance companies, investment firms, and some state-chartered financial institutions. Mortgage brokers, lenders, and loan originators use the NMLS search path.

The search is not a promise that a deal is good. It is a name check. It helps you see whether the business lane and license type fit the paper in front of you.

Write down the legal business name before searching. A trade name on a sign or website may not be enough. Compare the address, license type, contact details, and the name on the contract.

If the record does not fit the pitch, pause before paying. Use OFR’s consumer finance pages when the question is about a regulated finance business.
