St. Augustine Nights of Lights needs a parking plan
Nights of Lights is a beautiful St. Augustine tradition, but the old downtown works best when visitors plan for shuttles, parking, crowds, and walking.
Nights of Lights is one of St. Augustine’s prettiest habits. The old downtown glows, people slow down, and the city feels made for walking after dark.
The parking part is less romantic, but it is part of the same visit. St. Augustine’s streets were not built around modern event traffic. During the light season, a simple dinner plan can turn into garage rates, shuttle lots, private parking lots, resident permits, walk times, and crowds moving through narrow blocks.
That does not make the event hard to enjoy. It just means the easy plan starts before you arrive. Pick a parking or shuttle option, know how far you are willing to walk, and leave room in the schedule for slow streets. If someone in your group needs closer access, look at current city details instead of guessing from an old trip story.
The lights themselves are the fun part. The plan is what keeps the night from feeling rushed.
Check the city event page, shuttle details, parking map, and current rates before going. Small changes can make a big difference downtown.
