Shingle Creek is the Everglades headwaters in plain sight

Shingle Creek Regional Park shows how Orlando and Kissimmee water eventually connects toward the Everglades.

Shingle Creek is a quiet way to understand a very big Florida water story.

Osceola County presents Shingle Creek Regional Park as part of the Everglades headwaters. The creek begins in the Orlando area and runs toward Lake Tohopekaliga, often called Lake Toho. From there, water connects through the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes, the Kissimmee River, Lake Okeechobee, and farther south. The path shows why Central Florida water is not only a local issue.

The park also gives Kissimmee a public outdoor place with biking, bird watching, fishing, paddling, picnic areas, and trail plans. It sits near a busy visitor region. The water story is older than the surrounding traffic.

Check Osceola County’s park details before you go. Confirm parking, trail access, paddling options, hours, closures, and weather. If you are using the park to understand the area, look at the creek first.
