Florida veteran designation is a license counter errand

A Florida veteran designation can be added to a driver license or ID card, but it starts with the right proof at a service center.

The veteran mark on a Florida license or ID card is small, but it can save a little explaining later.

Florida veterans can add the mark to a driver license or ID card. It is handled through the license and ID side, so it belongs with card-update papers. Bring ID papers, home-address papers if needed, and the service proof listed for the visit.

This is not the same file as a tax break, VA benefit, specialty plate, or county veterans office visit. Those may matter too, but they are separate lanes. The card mark is mainly a clean way to show veteran status on the card itself.

If the only change is adding the mark, check the current fee and paper list before going. Ask whether the visit can be paired with a renewal or new card. Save the receipt with the rest of the service records.
