Florida address changes hit license and registration
Florida address changes belong on both the driver license or ID record and the vehicle title and registration record.
A Florida move is not finished just because the boxes are inside.
FLHSMV treats an address change as a driver-license errand and a vehicle-record errand. The address needs to be updated on the driver license or ID card. It also needs to be updated on the title and registration record.
That can matter when a toll bill, renewal notice, insurance letter, crash report notice, or title paper is mailed. A clean address record is boring in the best way. It helps the next piece of mail go to the place where someone can actually see it.
This comes up with apartment moves in Miami, new rentals in Orlando, a Tampa house closing, or a Jacksonville move across town. Do the driver record and the vehicle record together if both apply.
Before you start, check whether your change can be handled online or needs a service-center visit. Name changes can need extra proof, so they deserve a separate look before the trip.
