Florida tattoo license check looks at the artist and shop

Florida tattooing involves both artist and establishment licenses, so the person and the shop should both look current.

A Florida tattoo appointment has two license checks, not just one.

Florida Health points people to a licensed tattoo artist in a licensed tattoo establishment. The artist license application ties the artist to the licensed establishment where the tattooing will happen. The consumer safety page also tells people to look for current, visible licenses.

That is a simple check before a permanent mark. Look at the shop license, the artist license, and the address. The names should make sense together. A visiting or guest artist may have a different registration path, so ask before the appointment if the artist is from outside Florida.

The health details still matter after the license check. The work area should be clean. Gloves should be used. Needles should be sterile and single-use. Ink should be handled for the customer, not shared from an open setup.

If something feels rushed, pause and ask. A good shop should be able to show the licenses, explain aftercare, and answer basic safety questions without making the customer feel awkward.
