Florida’s pawnbroking lane runs through FDACS. The Florida Pawnbroking Act requires pawnshops to have an annual license with FDACS, and the department has a business search for checking covered businesses.
Before you pawn an item, read the ticket. The ticket is the record that helps explain the item, the amount, the charges, the dates, and what has to happen if you want the item back. Keep it in a safe place and take a photo of it too.
Before buying from a pawnshop, check the business name and address against the shop you are standing in or using online. A pawn transaction is not a normal store return, a bank loan, or a casual handshake.
The useful habit is simple: match the business, keep the ticket, and do not rely on memory for the date. If the paper is hard to understand, ask the shop to explain it before you hand over the item or payment.
