Florida motorcycle endorsement is separate from a regular license

Florida riders generally need a motorcycle endorsement or motorcycle-only license for motorcycles over 50 cc.

A Florida driver license by itself is not the whole bike answer.

For a two- or three-wheel motorcycle over 50 cc, the rider generally needs a motorcycle mark on the license. That can be an endorsement or a motorcycle-only license. New riders usually start with an approved rider course. After the course, the license still has to be updated.

This can catch people buying a first bike, moving from another state, borrowing a bike, or switching from a scooter to something larger. The plate, insurance, and bill of sale may all be in order while the license still needs the right mark.

Before buying gear or planning a first weekend ride, check the bike size and license path. Save the course record, license receipt, insurance paper, title, and registration together. If you already have an out-of-state motorcycle mark, check the transfer details before assuming how it moves to Florida.
