Florida mobile home tie-downs are part of the address

Florida mobile and manufactured homes need tie-down and installer paperwork that matches the home, site, and local safety path.

A mobile or manufactured home in Florida has a ground-level detail that can be easy to miss: the tie-down system.

Tie-downs are part of the foundation system. Florida also uses licensed mobile home installers for installation work. A good check looks at loose straps, strap angle, the number of tie-downs, ground anchors, stabilizer plates, support piers, and rust or damage.

For an owner, the setup is not just a storm-season chore. It is part of the home record. Keep installer facts, inspection notes, repair papers, registration papers, park or lot details, and any local code letters together.

For a buyer or renter, ask when the tie-down system was last checked and who checked it. If the home is leased and something feels off, ask the owner for a tie-down check. For a code or safety complaint, the local code office or FDACS may be the next path.

The goal is not to worry over every strap. It is to make sure the home, site, and papers match.
