Florida mobile home decals are a tax collector calendar
A Florida mobile home decal can show the registration tax trail, so owners and buyers should separate the decal, title, land, and tax collector file.
A mobile home can make a simple “house” question turn into several Florida papers.
One of those papers is the decal. FLHSMV’s mobile home registration procedure ties the registration sticker to payment of registration taxes. The sticker is displayed on the mobile home, and a multiple-section home can involve more than one sticker.
That decal is not the same thing as the land deed. It is not the same thing as title retirement either. A mobile home on rented land, a mobile home with an active title, and a mobile home tied into real property can each send the owner to a different file.
For an owner, the calendar belongs with the county tax collector or license plate office path. For a buyer, ask whether the title is active or retired. Check the decal, title papers, lien releases, property appraiser record, and whether the home sits on owned or leased land.
This is not meant to make mobile homes feel harder than they are. It is just a reminder that the small sticker can carry tax and title clues. Keep the decal receipt, title paper, tax collector contact, and land record together.
