Florida crash reports are not instant public records

Florida crash reports can be purchased online, but access is limited for a period after the crash and depends on your connection to the report.

After a Florida crash, the report can feel like the paper everyone needs right away.

FLHSMV has an online crash report purchase path, but access is not instant for everyone. For the first 60 days after a crash, access is limited to people and groups with a listed connection to the report. That can include parties involved, certain representatives, insurers, and others named under the process.

If you were in the crash, keep the driver exchange form, case number, agency name, date, and location. Those details make the search easier. If someone else is helping you, ask what proof they need before sharing personal information.

Crash reports can matter for insurance, repairs, medical records, and court questions. Use the official FLHSMV route first, then call the law enforcement agency if the report is missing or the crash was recent.

Do not buy from a random search result just because it shows up first. Start with the official route, then move to the agency that worked the crash.
