Courtney Campbell Scenic Highway is the bay drive between Tampa and Clearwater
The Courtney Campbell Scenic Highway carries SR 60 across Old Tampa Bay, where the drive, trail, beaches, and skyline views all share the same strip of water.
The Courtney Campbell is one of those Tampa Bay roads that feels like more than pavement.
It carries State Road 60 between Tampa and Clearwater across Old Tampa Bay. That sounds simple until you are on it. The water opens on both sides, the Tampa skyline can sit in the distance, and the causeway has places where beach stops, boat ramps, walkers, runners, bikes, and daily traffic are all close together.
That mix is the useful part. This is a commute route, an airport route, a beach route, and a slow-look-around route depending on the hour. A pretty drive can still be a busy road, especially around rush hour, storms, crashes, bridge work, beach weather, and airport traffic.
If you are using it for a timed trip, check traffic first and know the backup route. If you are using it for the view, leave room for the trail and waterfront stops instead of treating it like a quick pass across the bay.
