Gandy Bridge keeps Tampa Bay on a working road rhythm

Gandy Bridge is a Tampa Bay landmark crossing where U.S. 92, Old Tampa Bay, maintenance, traffic systems, and daily errands all meet.

Gandy Bridge is not the flashiest Tampa Bay crossing, and that is part of why it matters.

It carries U.S. 92 and Gandy Boulevard between St. Petersburg and Tampa over Old Tampa Bay. For a lot of people, it is not a vacation bridge. It is the way to work, a dinner plan, a service call, a school run, or the less obvious crossing when the bigger bay bridges are busy.

FDOT project pages show the bridge and the road around it as working infrastructure, with maintenance and traffic-system work tied to the corridor. That is a good reminder for anyone new to the area: Tampa Bay driving is not just distance. It is bridges, lane work, weather, crash timing, and which side of the bay you need to reach.

Before using Gandy for a tight appointment, check 511 traffic and current FDOT Tampa Bay project information. The bridge can be the right answer, but it is still a bay crossing, and bay crossings like a little planning.
