Space Florida turns launch country into a business story

Florida's space economy is not only launch viewing. Space Florida ties facilities, finance, workforce, and commercial space work into the state business map.

Florida’s space story is bigger than a launch time on a phone.

Space Florida is the state’s aerospace finance and development authority. That means part of the work is business. It deals with sites, money tools, companies, workers, spaceport projects, and programs that help space work grow in Florida.

The Space Coast still carries the most visible part of the story. You can feel it in Brevard County when launch traffic changes a day, when families know someone tied to space work, or when a road points toward Kennedy Space Center. But the business side reaches farther than one viewing spot.

Space Florida’s facilities pages show how practical this can get. The Launch and Landing Facility is managed by Space Florida under an agreement with NASA. It is open to commercial customers. Other sites and projects connect research, making things, storage, training, and support work to the larger Florida space map.

For a student, worker, or family thinking about the area, start with the job map, not only the launch map. “Space” here is not only rockets. It can mean welders, engineers, security staff, suppliers, teachers, drivers, planners, and small businesses that live around the industry.
