Jacksonville JTA is more than the ferry

Jacksonville's JTA includes fixed-route buses, the Skyway, ferry service, and other trip options, so local travel starts with the right service type.

Jacksonville is wide enough that “just take transit” needs a little more care.

JTA is the local transportation system behind fixed-route buses, the Skyway, ferry service, and other trip choices. The St. Johns River Ferry is only one part of the picture. For downtown trips, the Skyway can matter. For work, school, hospital, and shopping trips, the bus route and transfer plan usually matter more.

The useful check is service type first. Are you looking for a regular bus, a downtown Skyway hop, a ferry crossing, or a different JTA service? Then check the route, stop, schedule, fare, alert, and walking distance at both ends.

This can help newcomers read Jacksonville better. A place can be close by miles and still feel far by route. The right JTA page gives the trip a clearer shape before you decide whether to drive.
