Halifax Heritage Byway ties Daytona to river and beach history

The Halifax Heritage Byway is a Volusia County scenic drive that connects Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach, Ponce Inlet, river history, beach towns, and early speed stories.

The Halifax Heritage Byway is a reminder that Daytona Beach is not only one beach road.

The byway runs through a string of Volusia County places around the Halifax River and the ocean side. Daytona Beach sits near the middle, but the route also reaches Ormond Beach, Holly Hill, Daytona Beach Shores, and Ponce Inlet. It puts river towns, beach towns, racing stories, and old Florida growth close together.

This drive slows the Daytona story down. One minute you are thinking about beach speed and vacation traffic. A few minutes later, the road points toward riverfront history, older neighborhoods, museums, bridges, inlets, and quieter edges of the same coast.

Plan it like a local loop, not like a highway errand. Check current beach access, special events, bridge work, parking, museum hours, and weather before you go. The best part of the byway is letting the river and beach sides trade places as the day moves along.
