Florida vessel trouble reports start with the FWC map

A Florida vessel left in bad shape is easier to report when the location, registration clues, photos, waterway details, and FWC path are clear.

A boat left in the wrong condition can become more than an ugly view.

FWC has a derelict and at-risk vessel program, with an interactive map and information about how these cases are handled. The public-facing lesson is not to climb on the boat or try to move it yourself. The better move is to gather enough detail for the right office to understand what you are seeing.

Location is the biggest help. Note the waterway, nearest ramp or marina, nearby bridge or marker, and whether the vessel is floating, grounded, sunk, tied up, or breaking apart. Photos can help if they can be taken from a safe and lawful spot. Registration numbers, names on the hull, and hull color can also help the case land in the right file.

These cases can involve FWC, local law enforcement, a city or county, and sometimes the property owner or marina. Start with the FWC derelict vessel page and map, then follow the local reporting path it points you toward.
