Florida Revenue power of attorney starts with DR-835

Florida Department of Revenue tax matters use Form DR-835 when a taxpayer wants a representative to act or see private tax information.

A Florida tax helper may still need one state form before Florida Revenue can talk to them.

DR-835 is the Florida Revenue power of attorney form. It lets a taxpayer name someone else for a Florida tax matter. That person may be able to act for the taxpayer or see private tax records.

The form does not cover every kind of help. It is for taxes handled by Florida Revenue. A business may use it for a CPA, lawyer, enrolled agent, bookkeeper, or tax agent.

The paper asks who the taxpayer is, who the helper is, which tax is involved, which years or periods count, what acts are allowed, and who signs. It also has space for limits.

Do not rely on a quick email if the tax file needs formal access. Check whether DR-835 fits. Fill in the tax type and period with care. The form warns that “all” may not be clear enough.

Save a copy with notices, returns, login records, and payment proof. If an old form should stop, read the revoke section and ask Florida Revenue or a tax pro what to send. A clean helper file can save time when a notice, refund, audit, or account question needs a careful answer.
