Florida corporate income tax has its own Revenue lane

Sunbiz handles Florida company records, while Florida corporate income tax depends on the entity, income, and federal tax classification.

Sunbiz and Florida business tax do not do the same job.

Sunbiz is for company records. Owners use it for annual reports, registered agents, officers, and addresses. Florida Revenue handles corporate income and franchise tax. A company can look current on Sunbiz and still have a Florida tax filing to check.

That does not mean every small business has the same tax form. Corporations are in this lane. Some LLCs can be in it too, if they are taxed like corporations. Other LLCs may be treated a different way. The tax answer depends on how the business is set up and how it is taxed for federal purposes.

Before treating the annual report as the whole Florida list, ask your CPA or tax preparer how the business is taxed. Check whether Florida Form F-1120, a partnership return, estimated payments, or another Florida Revenue filing belongs on the calendar.

Write down both dates. Sunbiz has one job. Florida Revenue has another. Your year-end folder will make more sense when both are saved together.
