Money and taxes
Florida has no personal income tax, but still has paperwork
Florida does not have a personal income tax return, but residents and business owners can still have federal, property, sales, and business tax chores.
The “no state income tax” part is real, but it is not the whole Florida money story.
Florida Revenue says the state does not impose a personal income tax, so there is no Florida personal income tax return to file. That is often one of the first things people notice when they move here from another state.
The rest of the folder still matters. Federal income tax still runs through the IRS. Property tax runs through the county tax collector and property appraiser. Sales tax can show up in everyday purchases, online orders, cars, rentals, and business sales. If you own a business, Florida Revenue may still be part of the calendar for sales and use tax, reemployment tax, corporate income tax, or another state tax account.
For a new resident, the cleaner habit is to keep two lists. One list is what Florida does not ask from you as an individual. The other list is what your house, car, business, or federal return still needs.
That keeps a good Florida perk from turning into a paperwork blind spot.
