Florida lost license replacement is an online or office check

A lost or stolen Florida license can often start online, but the record, REAL ID status, name change, or credential type can send the errand to an office.

A missing license usually shows up at the worst time: airport line, school pickup, bank counter, or traffic stop.

Florida lets many people replace a lost or stolen driver license or ID card through MyDMV Portal. That can be the quickest first check when the record is simple. The new card is mailed, so timing still matters if travel, work, or a document deadline is close.

Some cases need an office instead. That can happen with a first Florida credential, a name change, a new photo, a CDL, a temporary credential, certain designations, or REAL ID papers that need to be checked in person.

Before starting, check the online replacement path. If the portal sends you to an office, look up the location and appointment rules. Keep the confirmation receipt, mailing address, payment record, and any appointment details.

If the license was stolen, keep a police-report number or a written note with the date, place, and what happened. The replacement may be simple. The better habit is to keep the record, address, and mailing timing from turning a small problem into a bigger one.
