Florida Lifeline starts with the National Verifier

Lifeline is a federal phone or internet discount, and Florida applicants now start with the National Verifier, the support center, or a provider.

Lifeline can lower a phone or internet bill, but the sign-up path is federal.

USAC runs the program with FCC oversight. In Florida, the Office of Public Counsel no longer handles Lifeline sign-ups. The usual paths are the National Verifier online portal, the Lifeline Support Center, or a phone or internet company that can help.

The standard benefit can be up to $9.25 a month, depending on the service and program rules. Some households qualify by income. Others qualify through a program such as SNAP or Medicaid. After approval, the household still needs a participating company to add the discount.

Start with the official Lifeline site, then use the company search if you need a provider. Keep proof of income or program help handy. Save yearly review notices so the discount does not stop by surprise.

For a tight monthly budget, this is a small line that can still help.
