Rules and licenses
Florida health license lookup is not the DBPR search
Florida health care practitioner licenses are checked through the Department of Health, while many other professional licenses use DBPR.
Florida has more than one license lookup. Picking the wrong one can make a real license look missing.
Health care workers are generally checked through the Florida Department of Health search. That is the place to look for many doctors, nurses, therapists, and other health license types. DBPR is a different lane. It covers many business and professional licenses, such as contractors and real estate workers.
The name on a license can also be tricky. A person may use a middle name, initials, a maiden name, or a business name in one place. Another record may use a shorter version. Search slowly before assuming the worst.
For a doctor, nurse, therapist, or similar provider, start with the Department of Health search. For a contractor or other business license, use the agency tied to that profession. Save the license number if you need to compare later.
