Florida DBPR license search is one license lane

DBPR covers many Florida business and professional licenses, but it is not the lookup for every job or agency.

Florida has more than one license search, so start in the lane that fits the work.

DBPR is the lookup for many businesses and professionals it regulates. That can include contractors, real estate workers, barbers, cosmetology salons, community association managers, home inspectors, mold workers, and other listed trades. The search can be done by name, license number, city, or county.

The important part is the name. A contract may show a trade name, a personal name, and a company name. Search the exact name on the paperwork, then search any license number shown on the bid, card, truck, or ad. The record can show the profession, address, and license status.

DBPR is not the answer for every license in Florida. Health care workers, child care, food permits, local business tax receipts, and county contractor registration can live somewhere else.

Before hiring someone, save the search result with the contract and permit file. If the name, license type, or status does not line up, ask for a clear answer before money changes hands.
