Florida duplicate registration certificate is the glovebox backup

A Florida duplicate registration certificate can help when the paper copy is lost, wet, torn, missing from the car, or needed for a simple record check.

A Florida registration paper is small enough to disappear and important enough to replace.

It can get tossed during a car cleanout. It can get wet in a glovebox. It can stay in an old car or slip behind insurance cards and repair papers. FLHSMV points drivers to the MyDMV Portal for a duplicate registration certificate when the paper copy is lost.

That duplicate is not the same as fixing every vehicle record. If the address is old, the plate is expired, the title has a lien question, or insurance is not lined up, those may need their own steps. The duplicate is mainly about getting the tag paper back into your file and car.

Before ordering one, check the tag number, VIN, owner name, address, and online account path. If the portal does not fit your case, use the county tax collector or FLHSMV service-center path. Once the duplicate arrives, put a fresh copy with the car papers so the next errand starts calmer.
