Florida court help and lawyer referral are different doors

Florida court self-help, legal aid, and lawyer referral are separate paths, so the county, deadline, case type, and papers should be sorted first.

When a Florida legal question shows up, the first door may not be the best door.

Florida Courts has legal-services and self-help resources. That can point people toward court forms, local self-help centers, free or lower-cost legal help, and other public resources. The Florida Bar also runs a lawyer referral service for people who want to be matched with an attorney.

Those paths do different jobs. A self-help page can help you understand forms or court process. Legal aid may depend on income, case type, county, or program rules. A lawyer referral can help you find a private attorney, but it does not turn every question into a free full case.

Before calling or filling out a form, gather the basics. Write down the county, court name if there is already a case, case number, deadline, names on the papers, and what you are trying to do next. That small stack keeps the conversation from starting in a fog, and it helps the person on the other end point you to the right door.
