Tampa Bay watering days are address-level rules

Watering limits around Tampa Bay and the Central Gulf depend on the local address, water source, and district restrictions.

In much of west-central Florida, lawn watering is not just a habit. It is an address-level rule.

The Southwest Florida Water Management District covers a large piece of the Tampa Bay and Central Gulf side of the state. As of June 30, 2026, the district page shows Modified Phase III restrictions extended through October 1, 2026, with lawn and landscape watering generally limited to once weekly. The page also tells residents to check city or county rules first.

That local layer matters. A home may use reclaimed water, a private well, a utility system, or an HOA schedule. Car washing, new landscaping, and irrigation repairs can each have their own details.

Start with the city or county water rules for the exact address, then compare them with the district page. If an HOA sends a schedule, check whether it matches the public restriction. A green yard is nice, but in this part of Florida the calendar and address tell you when to run the sprinklers.
