Washington Oaks Gardens State Park pairs an old estate garden and coastal hammock with one of Flagler County's exposed coquina shorelines.
Washington Oaks Gardens State Park puts two very different Flagler County landscapes on opposite sides of State Road A1A.
West of the road, formal gardens and coastal hammock carry the old-estate story shaped by Louise Powis Clark and Owen D. Young. On the ocean side, exposed coquina rock turns the beach into a rougher meeting of shell stone, tide, and waves.
The park does not provide a formal swimming area because of the coquina formations. Watch footing and surf near the rocks, and keep children close. Pets may use designated areas but are not allowed in the gardens or on the beach.
Use the current park page for hours, admission, closures, tides, and storm effects. Garden paths and the beach can call for different shoes, weather plans, and amounts of time. The site is in unincorporated Flagler County, with a Palm Coast mailing address and Marineland about two miles north.
