Key West residential parking is a permit system
Key West residential parking permits shape daily parking for locals and visitors in the older part of the city.
Key West parking is not just a hunt for an open curb.
The city has a residential parking permit program for marked residential spaces. Permit holders also get limited free time once daily in certain listed lots. The program does not erase other parking rules. Boats, trailers, RVs, and vehicles over 20 feet have street and municipal-lot limits. Street-parked cars also have a move-after-72-hours rule.
Key West is dense, historic, and busy. A visitor plan, rental plan, or resident errand can go sideways if parking is treated like a normal mainland block.
Check the city parking permit page before you rely on a curb space. If you live there, confirm the proof of residency, driver license, and vehicle registration steps. If you are visiting, read signs carefully and use city lots or garages when they fit the trip. In Key West, the parking rule is part of the address.
