Grassy Waters is West Palm's drinking water wetland
Grassy Waters Preserve connects West Palm Beach trails, wetland habitat, and the city's water supply in one place.
Grassy Waters is not just a pretty wetland on the edge of West Palm Beach.
It is part of the city’s water story. The preserve protects a large wetland area and gives the public a way to see boardwalks, trails, wildlife habitat, and open water close to town. That makes it a useful place for understanding why South Florida water is more than scenery.
The visit still needs a current check. Trails, boardwalks, programs, paddling access, weather, and water conditions can shape what is open and what makes sense that day. It is also not a swimming hole or a place to treat like a free-roam marsh.
Start with the city preserve page. Check hours, access, programs, and closures before you go. If you are thinking about water supply, read the city’s source-to-tap material too. It helps connect the walk to the utility bill in a way most parks do not.
