The Boca Grande bridge toll does not use SunPass

The Boca Grande toll does not use SunPass. For a car or pickup, GIBA currently lists a $6 round-trip toll that you can pay with cash, a credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or a GIBA pass. SunPass, E-ZPass, LeeWay, and prepaid rental-car toll passes do not work here, so check the current toll and payment list before driving.

The Gasparilla Island Bridge Authority runs the causeway from the mainland near Placida to Gasparilla Island. No other road links Charlotte County to North, Cole, and Gasparilla islands. Larger vehicles pay by axle, while bikes and GIBA passes have their own rates or terms.

The swing bridge opens for boats at set times. It may also open for maintenance, an emergency, or some tug and barge requests. If arrival time matters, read GIBA’s bridge information instead of treating the causeway like an ordinary fixed bridge.

Before you leave the mainland, check the current toll, bridge notices, weather, and island parking. This matters most if you tow a trailer, drive a larger vehicle, cross by bike, or want a frequent-trip pass.
