Rules and licenses

Florida wedding officiant checks start before the ceremony

A Florida wedding plan should match the marriage license with someone allowed to perform the ceremony, including a Florida notary when that fits.

Florida weddings can feel simple from the outside. Pick a place, bring the people, say the words.

The paper needs its own calm check. The couple needs a Florida marriage license before the ceremony. A Florida notary can perform a marriage ceremony in Florida. Clergy, judges, clerks, and other allowed people may fit too. A friend with a script may not be enough.

This comes up at beaches, courthouses, backyards, resorts, and quick Keys trips. Ask early who will lead the ceremony and who will sign the license. Ask what role gives that person the right to sign. Ask when and where the license goes back after the vows.

Keep the license, ID details, name of the person signing, and return plan together. The day can stay easy when the paper has a home before everyone gets dressed.

For a trip wedding, do this before guests travel.
