Florida TEAM Card keeps farm tax exemption in one place

The Florida TEAM Card gives qualified farmers a simpler way to claim certain agricultural sales tax exemptions, but it does not create new exemptions.

The Florida TEAM Card is a farm paperwork shortcut, not a magic tax-free card.

TEAM stands for Tax Exempt Agricultural Materials. A qualified farmer can use the card to claim certain sales tax exemptions on items bought for agricultural use. The card can replace paper exemption certificates for those purchases, which makes the checkout and recordkeeping cleaner.

The important part is the limit. The card does not create new exemptions. It only gives a different way to claim exemptions that Florida law already allows. That means the item, the buyer, and the use still matter.

For a farmer, the useful habit is to keep the card with the farm’s tax records and make sure the person buying supplies knows when it applies. For a seller, the useful habit is to check the card and keep the sale record clear, especially when the item could be used on a farm or at a house.

This is the kind of rule that can be easy to misuse by accident. A feed store, nursery, parts counter, or farm supply shop may see both farm and non-farm customers all day. The card helps, but the purchase still needs to fit the exemption.
