Florida School Readiness can help with child care costs

Florida School Readiness helps eligible families with early learning and child care costs, and the Family Portal is the online starting place.

Child care can be one of the hardest Florida costs to fit into a family budget.

School Readiness can help families that qualify pay for early learning and care. The program helps parents work, train, or go to school while young children get ready for kindergarten. Help can vary by family and place.

The online Family Portal is the application starting place. Your local early learning coalition is the local helper. That coalition can answer county questions, explain the next step, and point you toward child care choices nearby.

If child care is squeezing the budget, start with the Family Portal link from Florida Education. Then check the coalition directory. Keep pay records, work or school schedule details, household information, and provider questions together before you apply.

This is one of those programs where the local conversation matters. The state page gets you started, and the coalition can help with the next step in your county.
