Florida Revenue account changes belong before the move

A Florida business move, name change, status change, or closing can need a Revenue account update before the next tax notice arrives.

A business move can create more than a new lease and new sign. If a Florida tax account stays tied to the old address, old name, old status, or old place, notices and filing duties can get messy fast.

Florida Revenue gives businesses ways to update a business name, mailing address, location address, or account status. Some moves use an account update. Other changes can point to a fresh business tax application instead. That can happen with a new legal entity, ownership change, or move to another county.

Before the move, sale, pause, or closing, check the Revenue account. Write down which tax types are tied to it. Save the update confirmation. If the business is closing or going inactive, keep the final return on the same checklist so the old account does not keep sending surprises. A move is easier when the tax file moves too.
