A new pool or a major change has two linked permit tracks. First, send the health permit request before the building office issues the pool construction permit. Later, the building office must wait for the health operating permit before it issues final use approval.
That order matters for condos, hotels, apartments, gyms, parks, and campgrounds. A pool can look done while a permit, final health check, or building closeout is still missing. Florida Health advises owners to contact the program at least two weeks before opening.
Keep the health permit, approved plans, inspection reports, daily logs, repair records, safety forms, and final building paper together. A new owner should update the permit record. Do not assume the old permit moves with the sale.
Before opening, changing, or taking over a public pool, start with Florida Health and the county health office. Line up both permit tracks before guests are waiting at the gate.
