Curtiss Mansion keeps Miami Springs close to aviation history

Curtiss Mansion ties Miami Springs to Glenn Curtiss, early aviation, Pueblo Revival design, and a community-led restoration story.

Miami Springs makes more sense when you know Glenn Curtiss was not just passing through.

Curtiss was an aviation pioneer, inventor, and one of the people behind the early development of Miami Springs, first called Country Club Estates. His 1925 mansion stands out because it does not look like much else in South Florida. The Pueblo Revival style, courtyard feel, native limestone details, and old estate setting give the city a different texture from the airport roads nearby.

The mansion also has a preservation story. Curtiss Mansion, Inc. formed in 1998 to help save the house and gardens. After years of fundraising and restoration work, the mansion reopened to the public in 2012. That makes it more than a pretty old building. It is a local reminder that a city can choose to keep a hard-to-save place in the middle of modern growth.

Check current tour and event details before going, because the mansion is often used for programs, rentals, and private events. Even from the outside, it helps connect Miami Springs to early aviation, planned community design, and the airport-era history around it.
